Tieso the highest earning dj in the world

Deadmau5 Refutes Being A Forbes Highest Earning DJ

BREAKING NEWS:

Canadian Dj and producer Deadmau5 has contested his inclusion on Forbes’ Highest earing Dj list we published earlier this year (see below) claiming he earns nowhere near that figure.

Deadmau5 aka Joel Zimmerman announced at Billboard’s FutureSound Conference,

“After I saw the article, I called my manager and said, 'Yo, what the fuck? I'm $9 million short, dude. We gotta talk. Nobody is making that kind of money.” (NME)

Forbes do state that the list features the artist’s “net worth”, so is this comment a slight in the sites credibility? (Maybe an intern threw it together after a weekend festival bender).

Here is Deadmau5 performing sans giant mouse head at the itunes festival this year.

In earlier news... (3/8/12)

I for one am shocked that David Guetta not only didn't top this list, but came in at number four! Makes you wonder how much they are paying both Tiesto and Avicii to headline Stereosonic 2012!

Considering tickets are only $135 you'd think the amount wouldn't be too monstrous. But in terms of capacity, Stereosonic is now the biggest festival in Australia.

We reckon it would be above $1 million per show (at least).

Here's the rest of the list and what each earn per year - woop woop.
1. Tiësto – $22m (£14m)
2. Skrillex – $15m (£9.7m)
3. Swedish House Mafia – $14m (£9m)
4. David Guetta – $13.5m (£8.7m)
5. Steve Aoki – $12m (£7.7m)
6. Deadmau5 – $11.5m (£7.4m)
7. DJ Pauly D – $11m (£7.1m)
8. Kaskade – $10m (£6.5m)
9. Afrojack – $9m (£5.8m)
10. Avicii – $7m (£4.5m)

This 2012 Top 10 list was just released by Forbes' as their Top 10 biggest earners in dance music - so the amounts are in American dollars (which is pretty much on par with the Australian dollar at the moment anyway).

Here he is at Stereo back in 2012 - C'mon!
