Tanlines are slowly leaking tracks off their forthcoming debut LP Mixed Emotions!

Errrgh sorry, who?

Okay so many might not be au fait with the experimental pop duo: Jesse Cohen and Eric Emm aka Tanlines, and rightfully so; they haven’t yet exploded onto the indie scene (in Australia anyway).

They’re from Brooklyn, like so many bands pushing indie pop music in different directions: The Drums, Chairlift, Yeasayer, MGMT etc. They have this unique way of  combining Caribbean style beats and bongo percussion with arm-waving layers of synth: think Depeche Mode, drunk on pina colada’s floating around in space…. Okay so even I made myself laugh with that description – but it’s as if they stripped the best bits of 80’s pop and spun them into a totally new sound – it’s hard to nutshell! If you’re into the Spanish dance outfit Delorean, you’ll definitely dig these guys.

The best way to find out what I’m talking about, is of course to have a listen yourself. Here’s the two singles they’ve let slip off Mixed Emotions (due out in less than a month).

“Brothers” – this was shot with a 360 degree lens so you can pull across either side of the video to navigate your way around the clip. Pretty cool

“All of Me” - this one is hot off the press today!
