There’s going to be a lot of angry New Zealand skaters out there who were looking forward to losing their shiz at Odd Future headline show at the BDO festival this January…
The unapologetically un-politically correct crew, headed up by Tyler the creator have been dropped from the Auckland gig after a Wellington native named Calum Bennachie complained about the homophobic content of their lyrics.
Interestingly enough the council listened and acted swiftly (we obviously have very different systems in place in Australia), which resulted in the boys being dropped from the bill.
What are your views on the cancellation? In all honestly this Calum character doesn’t sound like you average Big Day Out punter – do you think it’s fair for him to ruin it for the rest of the fans?

Bio: Odd Future, AKA, OFGWKTA (Odd Future Golf Wang Kill Them All) are an LA based indie hip-hop group headed u[ by rapper/producer Tyler the creator & also features: Hodgy Beats, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis and Mike G, singer Frank Ocean.
Sounds Like: They have the vigilance of Public Enemy in their hay day, although they rap more about sex, bitches & violence than political subjects. The win for me, is there thick fat beats & sharp twisted hooky melody lines: you can help but move to them, that and Tyler is an undeniably talented rapper (sounds a bit like Michael Franti).
