David Bowie & The Stones Said No To Olympics

So as it turns out, The Spice Girls and One Direction aren’t the most iconic musicians in UK history! Thank god.

According to the Guardian David Bowie, Sex Pistols, The Rolling Stones and Kate Bush all turned down the chance to appear in yesterday's Olympic Games closing ceremony and even The Libertines had to decline the offer… Carl Barat tweeting during the ceremony that they “couldn’t do it” – no other explanation needed (maybe you don’t get a decent rider for Olympic events).

Apparently there have been mixed reviews of the closing ceremony, which cost 15 million pounds and featured The Spice Girls, Elbow, Kaiser Chiefs, Liam Gallagher, Jessie J, Queen, One Direction, Annie Lennox, George Michael and Take That, compared to the praise Danny Boyle’s (Slumdog Millionaire) opening theatrics received – all 27 million pound worth! However, the closing ceremony had a higher percentage of viewers watching it.

Do you think it was worth it? If I’d have known Elbow & The Kaiser Chiefs were playing I would have tuned in for that bit for sure.

Here's some snaps from the ceremony someone kindly put into a slide show (to avoid copyright) if you missed it.
