Album of the year

 Angus and Julia Stone

Down the Way

It's not that we have anything against Angus and Julia Stone, it's just that they're not exactly re-inventing the wheel here with their bland brand of folk. In terms of innovative and captivating music making, surely Sia's 'We Are Born' or Tame Impala's 'Inner Speaker' were worthy of a nod?

Single of the year

 Angus and Julia Stone

Big Jet Plane

This is an odd one, because the nominees they were up against  were Temper Trap's 'Love Lost', Washington's 'How To Tame Lions', Sia's 'Clap Your Hands' and Birds of Tokyo 'Plans' so we kind of feel like they won by default.

Best Female artist

 Megan Washington

As much as we love Meggles here in the Radar office, it's a shame that Sia and Washington were up against each other this year. This was a tough one.

Best male artist

Dan Sultan

Actually can't argue with this one. It's great that we managed to break out of the deep and meaningful roots artist for this category. Plus he is very handsome.

Best group

 Temper Trap

These boys have worked so super hard over the last couple of year, they deserve it.

Breakthrough artist

 Megan Washington

I Believe You Liar

As much as we would have LOVED to see the Philly Jays or Cloud Control take this one out, in terms of 'Breakthrough' you can't really deny Washington's mega-rise over the last year.

Best independent release

Sia

We Are Born

Dubious of the meaning of "independent". Would have been great to see the Art vs Science guys recognised.

Most popular Australian single

Temper Trap

Sweet Disposition

This makes us happy. Sorry Jessica Mauboy.

Most popular Australian album

Powderfinger

Golden Rule

Most popular Australian artist

Powderfinger

Kind of ironic that on the night that the boys do their last ever performance, they take out both most popular artist and album as voted by the public. It's a bit of cop-out vote though guys. Seriously. It's like ordering the Pad Thai again because you can't be bothered reading the whole menu.

Here's the rest of the winners.
So what do you guys reckon?
