Tin Sparrow
Tin Sparrow makes you feel like you’re riding out into the desert on horseback with only tumbleweeds and your own thoughts for company. Inhabiting the same metaphorical log cabin as Fleet Foxes and our own Boy & Bear, they blend dreamy country-folk, lush harmonies and a love of spaghetti western soundtracks with a warm and weathered charm.
The Sydney four-piece formed at uni after bonding over late assignments and a mutual love of Italian composer Ennio Moriccone and recorded their first EP
From The Sun with producer/Evermore drummer Dan Hume. The result was sell-out shows and ‘For You’, a song singer Matt Amery wrote for his girlfriend’s 21
st, scoring radio play and a spot on US drama
Grey’s Anatomy.
For EP number two due in 2012, the band recently trekked to Cairns to work with Mark Myers of the now-defunct band The Middle East. With its plaintive slide guitar and rolling harmonies, first single ‘Hector Myola’ sounds like a band happy riding even further into the sunset. Yeehah!
