The Shiny Brights

The Shiny Brights

Named after a local laundromat because their old rehearsal space was filled with dumped washing machines, this Adelaide five-piece formed back in 2007, playing howling post-punk fuelled by scissoring guitars and surging rhythms. They put themselves on the map in September 2008 with their cheekily-titled Let's Not And Say We Did EP, which scored a run on radio around the nation and earned them a spot on New York’s coveted CMJ Music Marathon festival.

Fast forward four years and the unsigned band have clocked up many more milestones, including support slots with The Wombats, The Living End and The Grates and festival spots on the Big Day Out, Southbound and Parklife. Come 2012, a new energy and new sessions with Melbourne producer Woody Annison (Children Collide, Red Riders) have seen the lads dial down the frantic energy for a more melodic and atmospheric take on indie rock, embodied in tunes like ‘Run With Scissors’ and ‘Blue Toes’. So far, we like what we hear.
