The Secret Whisper
The name Secret Whisper is a bit of false advertising. These guys don’t deliver a whisper so much as a powerful rock punch straight to your earholes. Childhood friends from the Queensland town of Gympie, the five-piece pit the angelic vocals of front-hottie Jessica Mincher against swooping, distorted guitars, hitting home runs in the same ballpark as bands like Paramore and to a lesser extent, Evanescence. It’s equal parts light and shade, introspection and aggression, mood and momentum.
They put themselves on the map in May 2011 with their dazzling debut EP, Le Jeune Amour (Young Love), mixed by Grammy nominated producer Dave Holdredge (Incubus, Iggy Pop, Story of the Year). With smoking tracks like ‘Remember When’ and ‘Cops & Robbers’, it lays down an impressive blueprint for future endeavours. We hope they don’t wait too long to follow it up.
