Now that dubstep’s disappeared up its own arse thanks to Justin Bieber, Muse and er,
KFC Krushers hijacking the bandwagon, is drum ‘n’ bass set to make a comeback? Rudimental’s monster hit ‘Feel The Love’ certainly shows a promising sign. The track, which combines surging D&B, jazzy horns and the soulful sounds of John Newman on vocals, recently topped the UK charts, propelling Rudimental to the top of the musical food chain at home.
As the creative collaboration between four producers - Piers Agget, Kesi Dryden, Amir Amor and DJ Locksmith – Rudimental bleed a diverse array of influences. ‘Feel The Love’ may be D&B, but their previous underground hit ‘Spoons’ (feat. MNEK and Syron) is slick, seductive French house. What they come through with on their debut album due later this year is going to be very interesting indeed.
