Our BDO Highlights

Little Red
It was absolutely fantastic to see the boys had such a great crowd so early in the day, of course they all went crazy when they played 'Rock It', but on a selfish note, I was happy to hear them play Coca Cola.

The Girl outside the Boiler Room who simply screamed "OH MY GOD THE SUN!!". Yep, that pretty much summed it up.

Sia
She played as it just started to cool down on the Converse stage which is the second biggest stage at Sydney and yeah, it was packed. I'd never seen Sia before and although she's a little crazy on stage, talking about drugs and just total random things in between songs but, standard Sia aside, she was pretty amazing. Played all the hits, a few I didn't know either but the show didn't lag like they sometimes can when you don't know half the songs.

People's General Excitement - especially the man who walked past the Chinese food stall with a cry of 'CHECK IT OUT MAN - PORK BUNS MOTHERF*CKER!'

Andrew WK
Totally lived up to his reputation as a crazy motivational party starter, and props HAVE to be given - this guy was playing on the hottest stage at the hottest part of the day but he was unflappable! Add to this his wingman aka amazing dancing leotard girl and you've got a PARTY. PS - she's real! A real actual fitness motivator - check her website

Gypsy & the Cat
The boys were on much earlier than I think they should have been. It was extremely hot, it actually rained for about 4 seconds just before their set but then yeah, flawless. The boys have got their live act down pat now. Now last time I got some video of the boys doing Jona Vark, this time I got some of them doing their mid-set Justice cover. Please excuse my stupid friends in this video haha

When Airbourne screamed at the audience 'HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN WE GET ON OTHER PEOPLE"S SHOULDERS" and you saw the security guards collectively sh*t themselves.

Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros.

Ok, so this was actually a pretty good set, it was kind of like watching a hick version of the Polyphonic Spree but we all know why everyone was there, it was to see them do Home. I don't actually know if it was the last song, I think it may have been but I left at the end of that song. I caught a bit of it on my phone, check it out.

I dunno, now I think that daughter and dad version is the new best way to hear this song haha.

LCD Soundystem
Absolutely fantastic, personally, I thought they were much better than when I saw them at Splendour. Maybe it's my love for the Sydney Boiler Room. They started with 'Dance Yrself Clea'n, one of my favourite songs of the album and yeah, that totally set the tone for the entire show. Now I don't know what the deal is, I thought their last show was at Splendour last year but apparently this BDO tour is? Whenever it is, I'm very glad I went and saw them.

Pnau
Ok, so I don't know if you Follow us on Twitter but my last post of the night was during Pnau and it was something along the lines of 'I know everyone is at Tool but I am having the best time of my life'. Probably a little dramatic but it was so good to see Pnau on stage again. Now, I wasn't totally sure about the new song, The Truth but seeing that played live, it was pretty spectacular. The mix of old and new songs was perfect. I just wish they had the big yellow balloons that they used to let out at the shows, that was always cool. If you haven't seen Pnau live before, put it in your bucket-list.

Iggy Pop & the Stooges
I know everyone says it, but can I remind you that this guy is 64! Iggy and the Stooges put their younger counterparts to shame and smashed out a raucous (and at times creepy...though to be fair not as creepy as Rammstein) set. At one point the swell of the moshpit rode up onto the stage as Iggy invited peeps to come up and dance. It looked hectic from afar.
