Radar Album Sessions

why you ask?

Well, because they're SICK albums and needed to be heard again.

So what we've done is picked a few of our favourite albums over the past few months and are picking our favourite songs from them with the band/artist taking you through them track-by-track.

This week we're playing you 5 songs each from The Shins and Hilltop Hoods. Two very good albums released this year and two artists playing Splendour in the Grass.

When Pressure and Debris from the Hilltop Hoods came in the studio earlier this year to take us through their album track-by-track, we realised this album is chockablock filled with some radcakes music from the Hoods so this week, we've picked the 5 best for ya.

Things you'll hear? How they got Sia and Charli 2na from Jurassic 5, getting signed to a US deal and just some general witty banter.

Check out the boys talking about culling songs

Our next Album Session and fellow Splendour in the Grass performer is The Shins.

James Mercer gave us a call to take us through their new album Port of Morrow and picking just 5 songs from this album was tough. Real tough. I know there's a lot of people that don't like them but I don't care, I'm a fan.

Now some of the things James talks about is who these songs are about and this performance on Saturday Night Live and how it actually works...

Here's when you can tune in to both of our Album Sessions this week

Hilltop Hoods
Friday 06/07 - 7pm
Tuesday 10/07 - 1pm

The Shins

Last week we kicked it off with replays of albums from Last Dinosaurs, Children Collide and Miike Snow.

Since the boys from Last Dinosaurs came in, they've played at the AFL and they've played live in our studio

We're also playing Children Collide's latest one called Monument.

A fair bit has happened since they've last come in too, they also played at the AFL and are about to head out on a HUGE tour and considering lead singer Johnny has moved to New York, things are sent to change a fair bit for these Melbournites.

Have a listen to what Johnny had to say about their latest album Monument

Now last but certainly not least is the new one from Miike Snow called Happy To You

Pontus called all the way from New York just after finishing shows at SXSW - a strange place for a well established act but these days, it's like a mini-festival.

If you tune in to our Album Session with Miike Snow, you can hear Pontus talking about their music, their next steps and even lying to me about coming to Australia.
