New Navy

New Navy

Describing themselves as ‘biodynamic beach bop’, these four Sydney lads recently grabbed our attention with the sweet sounds of their impressive debut Uluwatu EP (named after the Balinese surf break, we’re guessing).

Sonically sitting somewhere between Whitest Boy Alive and Friendly Fires, New Navy’s tropical songs promise a holiday for the ears with their sparkly clean guitar lines, beachy melodies and percussive breakdowns. Well, that and the fact that they’re singing about holidays and sailing ships means you can almost feel the sand between your toes.

Yet at the same time, like any trip away, there’s a subtle edge of melancholy to it all too, like this trip might be over all too soon. Given the quality of Uluwatu, we hope New Navy aren’t going anywhere soon.
