Love Like Hate
Imagine if the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Jezabels got together for a jam session on a dark night and you’re halfway there to Love Like Hate. Actually, this Brisbane female duo have more than a little in common with the ‘Bels. Both have enlisted producer Lachlan Mitchell and both share a love for sweeping, piano-propelled rock led by a strong female voice. In LLH’s case, it’s Heather Cheketri singing up a storm backed by pianist/songwriting partner Sonja Ter Horst with Stephen Birt as their touring drummer.
Describing themselves as ‘the new wave of dark pop’, they released their evocative debut EP Rabbit Hole last June. Lead single ‘21’ is a strong dose shot of lush, urgent rock that, the musical equivalent of a long midnight drive down the highway with a head full of thoughts.
