Ladyhawke

“Hi, my name is Ladyhawke. I'm a lady who loves to play. I love video games. I love my guitars. Synths. Cats. Makin' noise.” That simple, self-penned bio says it all and proves we have a lot in common – we also love video games, cats and Ladyhawke’s noise.

She’s been making it for a while now. After earlier stints with bands like Two Lane Blacktop and Teenager (with Nick Littlemore from Pnau/Empire Of The Sun), the Kiwi-born alt-pop superpower (real name Pip Brown) busted out solo with her stunningly good self-titled debut album in 2008. Packed with hits like ‘Magic’, ‘Paris Is Burning’ and ‘My Delirium’ (which cracked the Top 10 here), the ‘80s-soaked record cemented her as the hottest new cross-over kid, scoring love from indie blogs and commercial airwaves alike and winning her two ARIAs as a Breakthrough Artist.

Following up that record was always going to be a tough gig, as Pip would be the first to admit. That’s why she’s called her new album Anxiety, dedicating it to the nerve-wracking feat it presented. Thankfully for us, the ‘Hawke’s spun all that stress into synth-pop gold as the first single ‘Black, White and Blue’ shows in spades. The girl should get stressed more often!
