So the whole idea of a Record of the Week is to have an artist take us through their brand new album track-by-track but this week, we are sans interview. 

So why are we still doing it? Well, good question. Mainly because this is a huge album and there's a bit of worry around the Passion Pit camp at the moment with frontman Michael Angelakos cancelling shows and checking himself in to a treatment facility.

Michael has been very forthcoming with his health issues in recent years, making this statement public,

"I don't think people talk about mental illness a lot, but they need to know it’s OK to talk about how they are feeling. I wish more people would get help when they feel like they need it— not just to look to medicine, but to the support of others."

Now, all this aside, the reason we are still playing this album is because it is FANTASTIC. Michael has managed to create the perfect follow up album to their huge release of Manners which was pretty much the indie-pop album of 2009. I remember when I first heard Sleepyhead... I was three and a half beers down at this house party in Surry Hills (Sydney)... I remember because it stopped me mid-sip. What a TUNE!

Reegan was lucky enough to talk with Michael back in 2010 when Passion Pit were here for the Big Day Out and one of the things they spoke about was why Passion Pit is the way it is. 

"That's why Passion Pit began as a dance project. One, I didn't have instruments to record any other kind of music and two, I had this urge to make her dance and to make a project for her"

That's just one of the things the boys talk about, they also talk about what's on their rider and although that may have changed, back then it was quite simple. They also talk about Michael's struggle with rhinitis which is why in the early days, he was unable to replicate that awesome sound live. 

So we dig deep about the past BUT we also get to listen to this wicked album. Like this song 'Take a Walk'
