I Am Apollo
Hailing from Cronulla, the epicentre of Sydney’s southern beaches, I Am Apollo are a seasoned six-piece who delight in emotive, acoustic-based rock that recalls a time past. Maybe it’s their love of vintage gear, their old-school storytelling or the beautifully retro footage used in their video for ‘When The Shine’s Off’ (link to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfoKRIbbLXg), but there’s a heady air of nostalgia that underpins their earthy jams.
Centred around the creative nucleus of long-time friends Jeremy Strother and George Georgiadis, the unsigned band released The Drifts And Adventure Collection EP in January 2010. A year later, they followed through their debut album Rave On in June. Led by Strother’s gorgeously weathered voice, the band deliver a sound that feels familiar yet refreshing, the aural equivalent of a sunset surf.
