For Our Hero
With their energetic blast of pop-punk, For Our Hero recently took out first place honours for our September Unsigned Find competition and it wasn’t just for their snazzy fashion sense. Packing skinny jeans and some seriously sweeping fringes, this Melbourne six-piece unleash a brash blast of pop-punk reminiscent of Fall Out Boy, All Time Low and Panic At The Disco.
Remaining completely independent, they describe their rags-to-rockstars journey as “the ever-growing Cinderella story of the Australian music scene”, which hopefully doesn’t mean their evil stepsisters made them scrub the floors. Along the way, they’ve forged a fierce live reputation and supported like-minded bands like Short Stack, 3OH!3 and Amy Meredith.
To date, they’ve self-funded two EPs – 2009’s Threw The Looking Glass and 2010’s Afterglow – and this year’s seen them head to the US to put the finishing touches on their debut album with producer Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, Senses Fail), which is due out soon.
