It’s not just couples and Cosplay fans that meet on the internet, you know. Back in 2007, when everyone else was busy posting photo cubes on their MySpace page, Adelaide's Travis Cook and Sydney's Marcus Whale started collaborating over a high-speed internet connection separated by 1150 kilometres.
Together, they spliced together a diverse array of elements (electronica, ambient, house, R&B et al), sending the mutations back and forth via optic fibre before locking them down on their 2011 debut album Iconography. In addition to earning some seriously solid praise, the pair, now touring in real time, were nominated for a Sydney Music, Art & Culture (SMAC) Award as well as an AIR Award (Australian Independent Record Labels Association).
Not ones to pause for breath, the pair have since been busy forging their follow-up Die Young, which further distils their liquid mix of glitchy beats, iridescent synth and Whale’s soulful vocals. Its hypnotic first single ‘Hypothermia’ featuring special guest Guerre has got us very excited indeed.
