Blackchords first burst onto the scene way back in 2006 with a brooding little number called ‘Broken Bones’, a track that won first place at Melbourne’s prestigious St Kilda Film Festival music video comp and four years later would make the finals of the lauded International Songwriting Competition in two divisions.
Sounding like the runaway lovechild of Snow Patrol and Interpol, the Melbourne foursome made sizable waves in 2009 with their self-titled, self-funded debut album, which catapulted them onto stages throughout the UK and Europe to rave reviews. It’s a feat they’ll be hoping to repeat with album number two, which is currently in the pipeline after being recorded in a big barn in rural Victoria earlier this year.
